Corrosion protection of metal reservoirs
In the contemporary food, oil and chemical industry the reservoirs, tanks, silos and measuring cans became indispensable in the process of production, storage and transport of different substances. Thereby they are constantly exposed to the corrosion aggressive liquids (water, wine, milk, oil derivatives and various chemicals), bulk abrasive substances (cereals, sugar and salts), as well as to the atmospheric influences.
The construction of a reservoir should offer functionality, appropriate stability, durability together with the acceptable costs and aesthetic appearance. One of the biggest problem, which we have to face is the corrosion of the reservoir's metal parts, therefore the selection of an appropriate corrosion protection is particularly important. The inappropriate protection could lead to reservoir leakage, which might cause enormous costs for the cleaning of environment, repair of reservoirs, loss of warehouse capacities, contamination of the stored substances and in the worst case even the ecologic disaster.
For this purpose, HELIOS offers different coating systems, which are intended for the protection of metal reservoirs in the oil, chemical and food industry. At the selection of the systems we have considered strict international standards, which are valid in individual industrial branches and protect the user and customers.
In the continuation of this brochure only the part of the systems for corrosion protection is presented, offered by HELIOS. The separate reservoir parts are exposed to the different corrosion influences, which is bound also to the selection of the appropriate corrosion protection system.
Only the correctly chosen corrosion protection system, quality surface preparation and suitable application of coatings can guarantee a long lasting durability of the protected reservoir.
