Exterior protection of underground reservoirs
The reservoirs, which are located completely or partially underground, must be resistant to different chemical and mechanical influences. The corrosion stress in the ground depends on the contents and type of minerals, organic compounds, water and oxygen content. The coating system for the protection of reservoirs should therefore be resistant to humidity, gases, roots, microorganisms, influences of bulk stored goods in case of leakage and mechanical strain.
Recently the contemporary synthetic coatings based on special two-component epoxy binders have substituted bitumen exterior insulations of the underground steel reservoirs and they brought about considerable advantages in application and use of materials, as well as in the chemical and mechanical resistance.
