HELIODUR - polyurethane lacquers and enamels
Polyurethane systems have an important role in furniture surface treatment. The formation of a film and curing follow a specific reaction with a hardener, therefore they are ranged among the reaction curing materials. In industrial furniture lacquering, two-component polyurethane systems are important, which in Helios we offer under the trade-mark HELIODUR lacquers (clear coatings) and HELIODUR enamels (pigment coatings).
- The advantages of polyurethane lacquers:
- durable furniture surface protection
- high surface hardeness and flexibility
- excellent mechanical and chemical resistance
- problem-free treatment of different surfaces
- drying at a room temperature or increased temperature
- possibility of different effects and processing
- higher fire safety
- The disadvantages of polyurethane lacquers:
- limited pot life
- the hardener is sensitive to air humidity
- relatively slow curing of the gloss systems
- higher price
- When should we use polyurethane systems?
- when a high physical-chemical resistance of elements is required
- when a full, rich appearance of surfaces and high gloss are requested
As polyurethane lacquers dry and obtain good technical characteristics also at a room temperature, they are also used outside industrial lines, e.g. in a joiner's workshop.
