Basketball club Helios Domžale
Basketball is the sport, which really gave a special impression to Domžale. Nearly 60 years have passed from the time, when the first generations living in Domžale got to know this beautiful game, that became a very popular sport among young people. This resulted into the foundation of the Basketball club Domžale, first in the frame of the sports club TVD Partizan and shortly afterwards the club started its rich, independent way, which still lasts.
The basketball club obtained an enviable heritage with hard, planned work and the prepared vision, the part of which we are as well. In view of our connections with a narrow and wider environment we have been at Helios for more that 30 years a recognized general sponsor of the Basketball club Helios Domžale. In Slovene basketball there is no such case known that the sponsor would give sponsor funds for such a long period. In this way we have provided s stable resource of financial funds to our domestic club, which is a precondition for undisturbed work and success. The mutual symbiosis led our cooperation to two peaks – in the season 2004/2005 the basketball club Helios Domžale extended its ambitions out of our borders and in Domžale this was the start of one of the strongest European basketball leagues (league Goodyear, now league NLB) and two seasons later we became the state champions in the first Slovene basketball league!
Our decision to be actively involved in the sphere of the social environment proved for the correct and efficient. With the intensive and devoted cooperation we became the synonym of the basketball in Domžale, which strengthened our connection with our narrow social sphere. With pride and optimism we look forward to further joint successes.
